When I am thirty years, I have to "The Ministry of Christian's Homeless Shelter and volunteers in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. At that time I was awake agonizing problems of the homeless situation and it was really sad, shocked by what I saw. I felt impotent, I remember thinking to myself: "How can I help?" At the door, I witnessed one of fear, shame, trying parent. His clothes were torn and dirty. She stood with her daughter, who had not more than seven oreight years. Both were sold under-weight in the queue for lunch and afternoon. That when I knew I had to do something to help the homeless continue.
The event "A Night in the cold" and was organized by students who performed at Georgia College. It goes back to November 1, 2005 and is still performed every year. This is what prompted me to organize, among other reasons, my organization with the name of "benefit concert for the homeless." BesidesInspired, I wrote the song "guilt or gain." In 2006 I became a student of the College of Georgia, who asked me if I play a song that I wrote about the homeless for students who have spent a night in the cold, would be interested in cardboard boxes will be addressed. I immediately agreed to play their idea for my song, and fully supports its cause. Students were set up in boxes and spent an entire night in the cold to get an idea of what they liked to get his feel for the homeless. They were there to raise funds and public awareness for the homeless and the problems that lead them around, too.
When I arrived I was introduced with some students, teachers, and was interviewed by the media and local entrepreneurs. Soon after, the students gathered in a circle and asked me my song called "fault or gain," about the homeless and political issues is that often help to reproduce the problem.
The idea of an event ahead> Concert at the end of 2007, came to me one morning when I woke up in my heart, I remember sitting there, thinking of the time in 2006 when I played for the first time for students at Georgia College in Orillia. It 'been three weeks since I was invited back and asked for my song to play a second time. As I sat there wondering if I could do more. I remembered the summer of 2007 when I saw that the mother and her baby, and I volunteer at the Food Bank in Orillia. Not to mention theWhen I with my small son homeless, she and her son, who eight years earlier. All these things make for the question "What can I help you?" What skills they have and the skills that I can use to help the homeless problem? The only thing I heard was to offer my music. This increase has led to the big question: "How can I use my music?" The question is haunting me today. Then he hit me. I thought the "Live 8" concertwas organized to raise funds for people dying of hunger in Africa. Then I thought, why not have the same idea or theory for the homeless. I thought that had happened before and there was no doubt in my mind that we could repeat the procedure.
The "benefit concert for the homeless" was an event to raise funds. E 'was conducted by the City of Orillia and inspiration, along with the production of gasoline Rainbow and I share. The concert was in itself an event, aWeek after the Night of Georgia College Students' in the Cold ", which was in 2007 in a student night out in the cold for food, money and increase awareness towards the increase of homeless in Orillia. There are a number of impacts on society and people living around them that because of the loss of jobs, which caused a great burden on individuals and can lead to the suffering of many different types of mental illness. These are sometimes also caused by stress losing a loved oneone, unemployment, poverty, lack of affordable housing, natural disasters, are distributed and can also hereditary.
The focus of the benefit concert for the homeless. Gasoline Rainbow Production and I had a vision of just giving a hand. Our question was: "What can we do and how can we help you?" After a great need for brainstorming, we decided to build ourselves a rock concert that the tickets would sell, all proceeds to local boards. TheCompany provides all the parts their own locations, maps, posters and equipment for the cause. I found it really amazing how everyone pulled together and came to the concert. This prompted me to want to do more. There are a lot of support in Orillia and Barrie, the food banks are required in addition smooth and volunteers are urgently needed. It is well known that homeless people have lost much needed medical and psychological problems of alcohol and drugsAbuse.
The main reason why people become homeless because of mental problems and a lack of support from family, friends and community. If more funds for the homeless, no longer a need for food banks and volunteers of the community. The idea that I have held, is a charity walk across the country. Until now, the idea is still in my head and will now be continued, until I feel that we need them.
When I finished my song playing for Georgian College, positive effects of homelessness has changed. I felt like I had finally under arms, of something positive and rewarding. I seemed to not sit around waiting for something to happen to procrastinate. Just like when I volunteered during the night shift at a homeless shelter on Christmas Eve or at night when the homeless shelter in Midland told me I was the only volunteer. If I'm not working the night shift for their protection of men and homeless women of MidlandOntario would remain on the road, dying of cold. These are the times that they do something good in my life. I feel like I'm alive and doing something for my fellow citizens who are required of me that I can do.
From these experiences I learned many things. Homelessness is a problem that is often hidden under the carpet. I have lived and seen, in line with their own eyes the dramatic situations, like many Canadians today. I will also continue to pursue with the Georgia Collegeto help with their event "Night in the Cold." The vision I have of benefit concerts and music to my strength. I believe in my heart, I want to continue this dream until the end of my days. My plan is to hold on uptake of benefit concerts. I want the money to help hospitals with the mentally ill street youth and homeless, and adults. I hope to one day see that the proceeds go to rebuilding homes and cabins, which finally put an end to homelessnessFame.
